چکیده

Asymmetric links are common in wireless networks for a variety of physical, logical, operational, and legal considerations. An asymmetric link supports unidirectional communication between a pair of mobile stations and requires a set of relay stations for the transmission of packets in the other direction. We evaluate m-limited forwarding, a technique to disseminate information in locationand power-aware networks with symmetric and/or asymmetric links. Then we introduce a network and a MAC layer protocol for wireless networks with asymmetric links. The network layer protocol takes advantage of the location information to reduce the number of retransmissions and thus reduces the power consumption via the m-limited forwarding technique. The MAC layer protocol requires fewer nodes to maintain silence during a transmission than the protocols proposed in . We present a set of metrics characterizing the ability of a medium access control protocol to silence nodes which can cause collisions.

A Routing-Aware Simulated Annealing-based Placement Method in Wireless Network on Chips

Wireless network on chip (WiNoC) is one of the promising on-chip interconnection networks for on-chip system architectures. In addition to wired links, these architectures also use wireless links. Using these wireless links makes packets reach destination nodes faster and with less power consumption. These wireless links are provided by wireless interfaces in wireless routers. The WiNoC archite...

Energy Efficient Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks by Using Honey Bee Mating Optimization

Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile stations communicating through wireless links, without any fixed backbone support. In these networks, limited power energy supply, and frequent topology changes caused by node mobility, makes their routing a challenging problem. TORA is one of the routing protocols that successfully copes with the nodes’ mobility side effects, but it do...

Asymptotic Close to Optimal Resource Allocation in Centralized Multi-band Wireless Networks

This paper concerns sub-channel allocation in multi-user wireless networks with a view to increasing the network throughput. It is assumed there are some sub-channels to be equally divided among active links, such that the total sum rate increases, where it is assumed each link is subject to a maximum transmit power constraint. This problem is found to be a non-convex optimization problem and i...

An Individual Node Delay Based Efficient Power Aware Routing Protocol for Wireless Heterogeneous Sensor Networks

Wireless Heterogeneous Sensor Networks (WHSNs) are built up of miscellaneous ranges of node transmission and designing an efficient, reliable and scalable routing protocol with intermittent asymmetric links in it is a challenging task. In this paper, we propose an efficient power aware routing scheme for WHSNs, which can provide loop-free, stateless, source-to-sink routing scheme without using ...
